Rotational Moulding Services

End-to-end rotomoulding capabilities, tooling and product examples

At Contact Plastics we offer complete rotational moulding services — from concept and tooling through to production, finishing and delivery. Our expertise covers custom mould development, prototyping, small and large production runs, and a wide range of secondary operations so your product is ready to use straight off the line.

What we do

Custom tooling & mould development
We design and manufacture moulds to match your product requirements and production volumes: fabricated steel, cast aluminium and high-precision CNC aluminium options. Our tooling service includes mould design, trial runs, adjustments and ongoing mould maintenance.

Prototyping & product development
Quick-turn prototypes for fit, form and function testing. We work with you through iterations, offering material selection advice and design-for-manufacture improvements so your final tool produces consistent parts.

Production runs
We handle one-off builds, low- to medium-volume runs and larger orders. Rotational moulding is ideal for projects where tooling costs must be balanced against per-part cost — typical throughput is suitable for bespoke or mid-volume programmes. We can scale capacity depending on tooling and part complexity.

Secondary operations & finishing
We provide a full suite of post-mould services to deliver finished products:

  • CNC trimming, drilling and routing
  • Assembly and mechanical fittings (hinges, locks, latches, mounts)
  • Printing, labelling and pad printing for branding or safety marking
  • Lacquering and surface finishes (textured, gloss, matt)
  • Foam filling, double-wall options and bonded inserts for strength or insulation

Material & performance options
We mould in LLDPE, HDPE, PP and a range of specialised compounds (UV-stabilised grades, chemical-resistant, flame-retardant and anti-microbial materials). We’ll recommend the right material and construction for durability, UV performance and the intended use environment.

Product examples

Here are some of the rotomoulded products we manufacture — each built for durability, weather resistance and real-world use:

Scooter Top Boxes & Cargo Boxes
Designed for delivery and commuter scooters — robust, lockable, UV-stable and engineered for easy mounting. Available in a range of capacities and with options for internal partitions, latches, and reflective branding.

Scooter Cabinets / Top Loader Cabinets
Space-efficient top-loader designs for fast access, heavy-duty hinges, keyed locks, and foam or insert options for fragile cargo.

Plastic Cabinets & Enclosures
Secure cabinets for fire and electrical equipment, hose reel cabinets, and site enclosures — sized and colour-matched to client specifications.

Road Safety & Traffic Products
Traffic cones, water barriers and delineators manufactured in UV-stable compounds designed for long outdoor service life.

Industrial Containers & Custom Components
Large-format tanks, fluid containers, housings and custom-moulded parts for mining, truck & automotive, agriculture and industrial applications.

If you need something not listed above, we regularly develop bespoke solutions — from simple housings to multi-component assemblies.

Quality assurance & reliability

We apply strict process controls at every stage — material verification, precise charge weights, controlled heating/cooling cycles and a final inspection routine. Experienced technicians monitor moulding parameters to reduce variation and ensure consistent wall thickness and part strength.

Helpful notes

  • Tooling choices: Steel = cost-effective for simple shapes; Cast aluminium = better wall consistency and medium detail; CNC aluminium = highest precision for complex or tight-tolerance parts. (Learn more about mould types and materials.)

  • Typical production profile: Rotomoulding is well suited to low- and medium-volume production where tooling costs must be balanced against product complexity. (See our Process page for Stage 1–6 details.)
